Datu sumakwel biography of donald

In early times, ten Bornean datus, together with their families, followers and slaves allegedly ventured to Panay through boarding a boat called balangay. They landed at a place called Sinogbuhan near the present site of the town of Miag-ao,Iloilo. These ten Bornean datus are namely, Datu Puti, Datu Sumakwel, Datu Bangkaya, Datu Paiborong, Datu Paduhinogan, Datu Dumangsol, Datu Libay, Datu Dumangsil, Datu Domalogdog, and Datu Balensuela.

The Borneans under Datu Sumakwel bought an island inhabited by Negritos under Marikudo for  one gold sadok and one gold necklace. Eventually, the island was further divided into three conquests: the Hamtik, Aklan, and Irong-Irong. At some point, Hamtik became Antique, Aklan became Capiz, and Irong-Irong became Iloilo.

Three out of ten datus stayed in Panay while the rest sailed towards north and settled there. These three are namely Datu Sumakwel, Datu Bangkaya, and Datu Paiburong. Respectively, Antique, Aklan (Capiz included), and Iloilo are divided separately under the rule of the three datus who remained. Datu Sumakwel, the superior datu, had found a place known as Malandog, the first Malay settlement in the Philippines. Grew to be one of the most powerful in the region, the Confederation of States rival the neighboring states -- – the Rajahnate of Cebu, the Kingdom of Tondo and the Sultanate of Sulu -- in terms of prestige and wealth from their settlement in Panay.

General Fullon

Also, a General Fullon life-sized statue stood at the public plaza of San Jose, Antique, and is now a historical landmark. General Leandro Fullon was born in Hamtic, Antique. He is a revolutionary leader and the liberator of Antique during the Philippine Revolution. The tou rguide also mentioned that history is Luzon-biased because some revolutionary leaders who started the revolution came from the Visayas, but it wasn’t mentioned in history textbooks. He fought for freedom during the Filipino-American War, however, he raised his white flag in 1901 to the Americans after his forces were weakened due to heavy casualties.
