Paulino nunes biography of william shakespeare
Bio
Paulino Nunes has established himself as a versatile and talented actor in over 20 years of professional work appearing in film, television and stage productions in over 150 different roles.
His early career saw the young actor work extensively in the Toronto theatre scene as a founding member of the now defunctShakespeare in the Rough (which spearheaded a boom of open air, accesible Shakespeare companies across the province) as well as performing in the first full production by the ground-breaking, movement based Theatre Gargantua (coincidentally, taking over the role meant to be played by designer Glen Peloso of HGTV fame). Nunes also played the title role in the critically acclaimed Equity Showcase Theatre production of The Rover, winning rave reviews from audiences and critics.
More recent theatrical credits include the widely celebrated portrayal of the bully cop in Kenneth Lonergan’s Lobby Hero and the titular role in the multi-media, environmental piece Seizer, both of which won the actor universal acclaim.
As his career progressed, he began to work more frequently in film and television and less so in theatre. Since then, he’s guest starred in numerous series including Alphas, Suits, Lost Girl, Falling Skies, Perception, Flashpoint, Rookie Blue and The Listener, as well as playing in many television miniseries including the critically acclaimed ZOS: Zone of Separation, Would Be Kings, BBC’s State Within and The Grid.
He made his feature film debut in Dave Chappelle’s cult stoner classic Half Baked and has since amassed a wide variety of film credits ranging from an understated, intense suicide bomber in Traitor to a broadly comic mobster in Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (not to mention a hilariously incorrect turn in opening scene of Uwe Boll’s Postal).
His versatility has earned him a reputation as a busy and dependable actor, displaying tenacity and intelligence while playing the requisite ‘cops and lawyers’ but also revealing a tender, gentle nature in less conventional roles. What’s more, his ability to find the contradictions in each of those characters keeps his services in high demand.
He has worked with a diverse array of directors such as Jim Sheridan, John McTiernan, Peter Bogdanovich, Mario Azzopardi, David Wellington, Joe Carnahan, Ken Finkleman and Uwe Boll while sharing the screen with such talented actors as Susan Sarandon, Jason Isaacs, Forest Whitaker, Michael Madsen, Ving Rhames and Ally Sheedy among many, many others.
Nunes has appeared recently on the small screen most often as a recurring character in various television series such as The Firm, Against the Wall, XIII and Cra$h & Burn.
During the filming of Cra$h & Burn, Nunes, along with his on-screen cubicle buddy and off-screen friend Carlos Diaz, wrote a series of hilarious sketches titled The Continuing Adventures of Carlos and Papo which are featured on YouTube and Will Ferrell’s popular website Funny or Die.
