Birth name; Martijn Gerard Garritsen was born on May 14, 1996, to Gerard and Jarin Garritsen in  Amstelveen, Netherlands. He has a sister named Laura and has shown up his interest in music at an early age, especially in guitar.  In 20014, he discovered his interest in becoming a DJ after seeing Dutch DJ Tiesto and took inspiration from the track 'Traffic', started composing his own. After high school, Martijn joined Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht and graduated in 2013 with the MBO diploma in ‘artistic pop music’.

Martin Garris started off his career as an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) star started at 14, and served as a disc jockey at his high school. He was inspired from the Dutch Tiesto and released his first tracks, ‘BFAM’ (with Julian Jordan) and ‘Just Some Loops’ (with TV Noise). By 2012, Martin signed to Spinnin’ Records and released 'Mistake 404' and following that year, ‘Torrent’ with Sidney Samson on Tiësto’s own label, Musical Freedom. Garris gained fame after releasing his solo work ‘Animals’ topping singles charts in the United Kingdom and reached number 21 on the United States Billboard Hot 100. The year 2015, Martin worked with several artists including Usher's single ‘Don’t Look Down. After his exit from Spinnin Records, in mid-2016, he launched  'STMPD RCRDS', and through the label released his new track 'Now That I’ve Found You'. His other single 'Opps' was picked as the 'Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016' anthem. In July 2016, he signed a contract with Sony Music and performed with Troye Sivan on their collaborative song 'There For You' at the ‘2017 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in California.
